The 2011 AFBJJ-SA State Championship was a great weekend, us ISOHEALTH’ers were especially happy given that our little ISOHEALTH team once again managed secure First Place in the Team Cup making us Team Champions for the second year in a row. We were very happy to say the least.

This year’s event was much bigger than ever before with a record number of competitors. I could be wrong but I believe we had approximately 270 competitors at this event. It is actually one of the biggest events on the Adelaide Martial Arts calendar and without doubt the biggest event of the year for Adelaide BJJ.

The event was very well run and there were many exciting matches with divsions for Gi and divisions for No-Gi. Many competitors from across the state (and interstate) entered both divisions showing a tremendous amount of heart and endurance. It was a great weekend all round with many performances that made us proud. One of the many highlights was Jourdan taking out Gold in 3 divisions that he competed in, those being Adult White Belt 97kg Gi, Adult White Belt 97kg No-Gi and Adult White Belt Open Weight Gi. It was also terrific to see our Adult Blue Belts close out a number of brackets in across some very tough weight divisions.

Our final medal tally was:

  • 20 Gold
  • 21 Silver
  • 20 Bronze

All the ISOHEALTH’ers did a terrific job not just on the mat but also off the mat where they assisted on tables, set up and pack up to help make sure the event could go ahead and run smoothly. Definitely a great day overall for Adelaide BJJ and Martial Arts as whole!

The rest of the year is going to be very busy with some of the guys fighting MMA and of course entering some more BJJ competitions. Plenty of excitement for all of our ISOHEALTH’ers to look forward to!
