Women's Self Defence

Women’s Self Defence: Sessions specifically designed for women and for women only. Many women just don’t realise how terrific their skills can become with proper training and ISO Health’s Women’s Self Defence sessions will help get you there. Like our ISO Health Reality-Based Protection classes our Women’s Self Defence sessions are based on:

- Reality-Based Personal Protection
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
- Standup / Clinch

The overall training philosophy is the same in that we aim to deliver highly effective Self Defence training in a safe and enjoyable manner but the key difference is that these sessions are for women only and because you are booking them as a small group (or private) session you can choose exactly who you want to train with.

Maybe it’s your sister, your daughter, your mum or your best friend. Perhaps you’ll decide to do your sessions with some females that you work with who share your interest in learning self defence. The main thing is that you choose the people so you can feel comfortable about who you are training with.

 

Training solely with other females is a terrific way to reduce the anxiety that many women feel about attending self defence sessions. If or when you feel comfortable in wanting to train with males then that option is there as you can attend our BJJ or “Standup / Clinch” classes, both of which are mixed male and female classes. If on the other hand you always want to stay in your women’s only sessions then that is great too, you’ll still greatly improve your self defence abilities.

A common critiscism of “women’s only” self defence classes is that women really need to train with men if they want to learn how to defend themselves against men. This argument is a reasonable one but the truth is that a massive increase in one’s self defence ability can be acquired solely through with training with women.

If a female participant feels like they want to train some of their skills against a male then our instructor (Matt Jones) is there to assist you by giving you a male to work with who you know not to be too rough or let his ego get in the way of your progress.
