The MMA Down Under promotion is only two years young but with the incredibly polished presentation it delivers one could be forgiven for thinking it had been running for a very long time. Gregg and Dave (the promoters) do a great job putting the show together with special mention of the great conditions they provide for the fighters. The venue at Wayville works extremely well and when coupled the with the great match ups the audience was guaranteed to have a terrific night!

ISOHEALTH had two fighters on this show, those fighters being Ray Lawley-Sinclair stepping up for his second full-contact fight with his first experience having been a San-Shou bout back in 2010. This time Ray was stepping up for MMA under South Australia’s ISKA B-Class rules. Keeping Ray company in this show was ISOHEALTH fighter Alex Sims making his fight debut in a C-Class MMA match which requires the use of headgear and shin pads. Both Alex and Ray were giving away approximately 3-6kg which is a quite a lot given that these two little fellas walk around at only 57kg.

Alex was first out of the locker room into the ring and put in a stellar performance to come away with a submission win in just 47 seconds! Alex used some great striking to set up the ground engagement and executed a beautiful submission to take the win.

Ray stepped out to face a much larger opponent who was coming into this match with a great deal of Muay Thai experience, Ray however had more experience as a grappler and managed to take the fight the ground early on to secure a round one submission win.

We had a huge number of ISOHEALTH’ers there in support of Ray and Alex and I would like to once again thank each and every person who came along to cheer on these two little powerhouses. I would also like to thank Dave and Gregg of MMA Down Under promotions for putting on such a terrific show and also of course Tom Hunter, Shane Kokotis and the ISKA crew without whom these events could not go ahead. Last but not least, thank you so much to Adam Orlowski of Infinite MMA Forum and Leif Wilsan of A Giant’s Perspective for the terrific photos they both took during the event. These two guys are two of the most enthusiastic and friendly photographers you are likely to meet an MMA event and their pics help all involved capture and preserve some great memories from the night.
